The Weather Diaries

Cooper & Gorfer’s fourth series takes you deep into the ingenuity of three island nations where common is the hug of isolation. The Weather Diaries is a prolific collaboration between Cooper & Gorfer and some of the most gifted designers from Greenland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands. Instead of seasonal trends, it explores the inspiration of creative minds, probes links to cultural identity, and scrutinizes the impact of the inescapable physicality of nature and weather.

Curated by Cooper & Gorfer and produced by the Nordic House Iceland, The Weather Diaries exhibition and tour, originally premiered at MAK Frankfurt in 2014 for The Nordic Fashion Biennale. Hybrid images by Cooper & Gorfer were paired with installations by the the following designers and artists: Barbara I Gongini (FO), Bibi Chemnitz (GL), Guðrun & Guðrun (FO), Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir a.k.a. Shoplifter (IS), Jessie Kleemann (GL), JÖR by Guðmundur Jörundsson (IS), Kría (IS), Mundi (IS), Najannguaq Lennert (GL), Nikolaj Kristensen (GL), Rammatik (FO) and STEiNUNN (IS).
